Google Earth
Now, a real treat for those wanting to be Emma Bovary and travel the world without having to step a foot out of the house.
Google Earth is a great tool to use in class when introducing a little bit of the country's geography.
It can be downladed on http://earth.google.com or used live on the website http://maps.google.co.uk/maps.
You can see a whole continent, zoom on a country, or a town, or even a monument. Kids find themselves on top of the Eiffel Tower, see the Brandenburger Tor and the separation between East and West Berlin, or realise where they are going on holiday in Spain.
Great tool for a little bit of fun in class.
